What is the Issuer Domain?
The Issuer Domain is used by Authn8 to automatically fetch and display the correct brand logo for your accounts. This helps you quickly identify accounts at a glance and provides a more polished user experience.
Required Format
The Issuer Domain must be a valid top-level domain (TLD). This means it should follow the standard format of a website domain name.
Correct Examples:
- google.com - For Google accounts
- github.com - For GitHub accounts
- microsoft.com - For Microsoft accounts
- amazon.com - For Amazon accounts
- paypal.com - For PayPal accounts
Incorrect Examples:
accounts.google.com - Too specific (includes subdomain)
https://github.com - Includes protocol
google - Missing top-level domain extension
www.microsoft.com - Includes www subdomain
microsoft.com/login - Includes path
Tip: Use only the main domain name without any subdomains, protocols (http/https), paths, or additional URL components. The format should be: domain.extension
Why Does This Matter?
When you provide the correct top-level domain, Authn8 can:
- Automatically retrieve the official brand logo for the service
- Display consistent branding across all accounts
- Make your account list easier to scan and navigate
- Provide a professional appearance to your 2FA management
When to Edit the Issuer Domain
You should only need to edit the Issuer Domain in these situations:
- Logo Not Displaying: If the account logo isn't showing correctly or at all
- Wrong Logo: If the displayed logo doesn't match the service
- Initial Setup: When manually adding an account and the domain wasn't automatically detected
Important: Changing the Issuer Domain will immediately update the account logo. Make sure you enter the correct domain to ensure proper logo display.
